15 Simple Ways of Creating Content Creating Content
So you’ve heard the term “content marketing” and how “content is King”! But what exactly does this mean for you as a business owner?
What constitutes “Content”
To make it easier for you we’ve compiled a list of 15 things you can create that amount to content (remember though creating content is only the first step – you’ve still got to get people to notice and share it).
Content Marketing Ideas (it’s not just blogs and social media)
Videos
Show your products/services in actions or better yet film a satisfied customer’s testimonial.
Newsletters
If people have given you permission to contact them then do so! You’ve got a ready-made captive audience so share some content with them.
Photos
Holding an event? Have some photos taken and shared across your social media platforms and on your website.
Created a new product? Share a picture.
Working on something cool? Share ... you get the idea!
Competitions
Always a good way to raise awareness and widen reach – just bear in mind any rules if using a platform such as Facebook.
Images
These can be images you have created yourself (think Photoshop, Morguefile, and PicMonkey) or ones from other people – also known as MEMEs.
Audio
Not everyone likes to read – how about recording your blog posts onto SoundCloud or AudioBoo for people to listen to instead?
Pdfs/eBooks
Compile your content into an ebook and allow your audience to download in exchange for their email address (list building) or sell via Amazon Kindle etc.
Jokes
If there’s a topical (but non discriminatory) joke doing the rounds, share it – especially on social media where it will undoubtedly get likes and share. If you can relate back to your industry even better!
Presentations
Given a talk recently on an industry topic? Why not share the information in the presentation with your audience via social media or embed it on your website.
Press Releases
The press industry are always looking for items to fill their newspaper, so don’t be afraid to write your own press release and forward to the relevant person at the paper’s business newsdesk. (TIp: Hand delivered or posted press releases stand a better chance of being read given the amount of emails editors tend to get these days.)
Graphs
Information in visual form is absorbed more readily than written form so if you can produce a graph to show stats you may mention in a post then that’s another form of content and one that may be shared more than the text. (Think pinning onto Pinterest with a link back to your original article)
Infographics
As above.
Webinars
Sharing information with hundreds of people is so much easier now with the internet. You can share your knowledge via webinar (live or recorded) and showcase your expertise.
News
Something big happening in your company, industry or in the world? Share it with your audience
Music
Not for everyone but the old radio jingle can go a long way to getting your business remembered.
This list is not exhaustive – everything you produce for and about your business all counts towards “content marketing” – so please don’t produce anything if it’s not aligned with your company’s goals and vision!
So there you have it FIFTEEN ways to create content for your business. You don’t have to use them all – just concentrate on the ones that resonate with your audience.
Remember content also means happy so if creating one type of content makes you unhappy - don’t do it – choose another!
